Football player Oleksandr Zinchenko of Arsenal lost a lawsuit against HMRC over thousands of pounds in overdue taxes. Due to an unpaid tax bill, tax authorities targeted his company, Alex Zinchenko Image Rights, and representatives of the 28-year-old’s company appeared in the High Court this week. Zinchenko’s company’s most recent 2023 financial statements revealed that it owes £893,133 in taxes in 2023 and £834,164 the year before. Representatives promised that the debt would be paid, but the precise amount of taxes due was not disclosed during the brief session.

According to the corporate account, Zinchenko, a repeat Premier League winner who makes about £150,000 a week, received a £1.8 million loan from the corporation. In September of last year, HMRC started the process of closing the business. However, during the London hearing earlier this week, the court learned that a settlement had been struck, and Alex Zinchenko Image Rights is scheduled to close in March.

Zinchenko was the only shareholder and director of the business until November 3, 2024. Then Artemijs Rjabovs, a fellow director and official with the Ukrainian FA, took control. Zinchenko, who was born in Ukraine, has been a vocal advocate for his nation ever since Russia invaded it in 2022.

In the past, he had declared that if he were called up for duty, he would leave the Premier League and return home to serve in the military. He declared, “I would go [to fight] at that time.” It’s difficult to comprehend that right now they have to defend our nation while we were playing football or in the playground at the same school.

It’s really difficult to accept this, but it’s the way things are. We’re not going to give up.” Additionally, it has been alleged that he has given over £1 million in aid to refugees who have been displaced by the conflict and that he personally knew numerous children whose parents had lost their lives in the conflict.
