Arsenal are interested in signing CSKA Moscow striker, Fedor Chalov, Sky Sports news understands.
The report claims that AS Monaco and Sevilla are also interested in the 21-year-old who finished the previous season as the top scorer of the Russian Premier League. He scored 17 times in 37 appearances across all competitions and also collected 7 assists.
Chalov has broken into the limelight after hitting a straight run of form recently. He scored two goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League before his team got eliminated.
After making several youth appearances for his country, the striker earned a call up to Russia’s extended squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He finally got to make his debut for the senior side in March, during the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Belgium and now has 2 caps to his name.
Arsenal’s interest in the Russian could rise from the confirmed departure of Danny Welbeck this summer. They could be looking at Chalov as a backup to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, which would be a shame since it would hinder the growth of academy product, Edward Nketiah even more.
Or the Gunners could also be preparing for the potential departures of either Aubameyang or Lacazette. Both strikers are wanted men this summer after impressing this past season, Aubameyang collecting the Premier League Golden Boot and Lacazette finishing the term as the team’s highest assist getter.
