The Gunners, who are in the market for a star striker, recently faced a setback when Benjamin Sesko decided to remain longer at RB Leipzig. Serhou Guirassy, a striker for Stuttgart, is available this summer for a reduced fee, and Arsenal is one of the teams interested in signing him.
German publication Bild reports that Guirassy is being pursued by Arsenal and Chelsea, who are looking to add offensive reinforcements to their lineups. The publication also names AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund as suitors.
After permanently joining Stuttgart a year ago, Guirassy had a fantastic season in goal, scoring 30 goals in 30 games to help the team finish second in the Bundesliga behind Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen.
The Guinea international, 28, has two years left on his current deal, but he is expected to depart for a Premier League team. He is expected to fetch roughly £17 million. His present contract is £2.5 million a year; therefore, moving to Arsenal or elsewhere will also result in an enhanced one. Signing him may be a game changer for the Gunners this season.
In the coming weeks, manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping that his team can beat out other teams for the services of a player like this, as the North Londoners need him leading their line if they are to mount a stronger Premier League challenge the following season.
