Arsenal is hot and heavy in the race and are leading to sign Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff.
So why the desperation – what’s so special about the kid?
The Magpies starlet bloomed like a lotus this season and rose unexpectedly. With 2 goals in 7 matches, the youngster has shown impressive action in the 2019-20 campaign, and has no doubt got several clubs across Europe interested.
The 20 year old midfielder is supposed to be leaving St James’ Park by the season end this summer on a free transfer. And lots of clubs, including Arsenal, want in on that action.
Longstaff’s contract with Newcastle United is expiring this summer and the Magpies are still trying to convince him to get to agree to the terms of the new contract. However, for Longstaff, this means a free transfer and a multitude of clubs lining up to sign him. That’s the dream!
The central midfielder, however, has reported that he does not want to stay on Newcastle and sign a new deal.
And according to Mirror, Arsenal is currently leaders in the transfer race for Matty Longstaff. Arteta is looking to rebuild the current squad, and Longstaff can be a great midfielder option.
Within Premier League, Everton and West Ham are waiting to cut a deal and across Europe, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Club Brugge, Inter Milan and Atalanta have all joined the race. It’s going to be a tough one for Arsenal, so let’s see!
