High profile La Liga star Eden Hazard has been revealed to be a surprise option as an Arsenal transfer target
The LaLiga league leaders are thought to be prepared to let the Chelsea icon depart following a rocky three-year stay.
Hazard, 31, has failed to live up to his price tag since joining Real Madrid in 2019, with injuries and bad form playing a role in the Belgian’s underwhelming time at the club.
According to reports, Arsenal has begun the initial contract with the Belgian, while Newcastle United, another Premier League side, is also thought to be interested in a summer transfer.
Hazard has made 22 appearances this season, the majority of which have come off the bench. He has only scored once in all competitions, but he has set up two goals for his teammates.
Hazard’s departure would undoubtedly be welcomed by Real Madrid, since he has been little more than a drain on resources in recent years.
He won’t reach the spectacular heights he did in his 2019 move, but according to transfermarkt, he’s worth £16.2m, so any transaction would be either a loan for a prospective buyer or a much reduced price agreement.
There has been no more progress, but the Gunners’ desire in the Belgian, 31, is ‘real.’
