Arteta worked with Zinchenko during his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City.
According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal have added Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko to their summer transfer target list. The North London club is in an attempt to pull off a double swoop alongside Gabriel Jesus.
The 25-year-old left-back has been reportedly identified as one of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s own personal picks. Arteta worked with him during his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City.
Sportsmail also adds that, while Guardiola considers Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus ‘integral members’ of the City squad, the manager will not stand in the way of players wishing to exit the club.
“Honestly I want to die for these people, for all this support, because what people gave me and what they have done for me during this toughest period of my life,” Zinchenko said of City’s supporters during his team’s Premier League title celebrations.
“I am so appreciative and I will never forget this. Never in my life.”
