During this summer transfer window, Sporting winger Marcus Edwards is a target for Arsenal. When Edwards joined Tottenham at the age of eight, the north London team considered him to be one of their brightest prospects. However, he failed to live up to the hype and made just one appearance in the League Cup for the team that had raised him.
Marcus Edwards is reportedly Arsenal’s focus, according to a report by the Portuguese publication O Jogo. During the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur intends to re-sign the 25-year-old. Sporting CP, who is eager for him to move to the Premier League, will probably try to cash in on him in the upcoming weeks.
Having missed out on striker Benjamin Sesko after the 21-year-old decided to stay at RB Leipzig, Arteta’s side has now been linked with a shock move for Sporting winger Edwards. Arsenal are believed to be in the market for a centre forward as they look for a regular source of goals, but they could also look to strengthen at left back and in the middle of the park.
If Mikel Arteta’s team completes this agreement this summer, Tottenham—who apparently owns 35% of the player’s rights—will benefit somewhat. With just two years remaining on his current contract and a Transfermarkt valuation of approximately £17 million, it’s unclear how much Sporting will ask to sell their best player, Edwards.
