According to FootballTransfers, Arsenal has asked Luis Campos to replace Edu. Edu formally resigned as Arsenal’s sporting director earlier this month to join Nottingham Forest’s multi-club network, and the Gunners are currently looking for a replacement. At the end of this season, Campos’ three-year deal as PSG’s football advisor comes to an end.
Campos has been informed by PSG and Nasser Al-Khelaifi that they wish to extend his contract. The requirements have been discussed for a while, but the two sides have not yet reached a consensus. Because of this, Arsenal is now looking into Campos’ availability after Edu resigned. Manager Mikel Arteta has been the driving force behind Arsenal’s interest and will play a crucial role in selecting Edu’s successor.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Campos under consideration to replace Edu
In July 2022, PSG signed the outspoken Portuguese transfer specialist as an outside adviser after he had built a stellar reputation at their French rivals, Lille and Monaco. Due to Campos’s influx of players, both clubs managed to steal the French Premier Division crown away from the capital club’s firm hold. Arsenal is reportedly examining the 60-year-old as a possible successor after Edu’s unexpected retirement, according to Sky Sports.
The club is still in the “early stage” of the search for a new sporting director, and Jason Ayto, Edu’s assistant, will be taking on additional duties during the January transfer window. Simon Rolfes of Bayer Leverkusen was also mentioned in the report as a potential contender, along with Roberto Olabe, whose confirmed departure from Real Sociedad is advantageous for the Gunners.
