According to reports in Italy, Arsenal are looking to sign 22-year old goalkeeper Emil Audero as a replacement for veteran Petr Cech. Cech announced a few days back that he will be retiring from professional football at the end of the present season.

The Gunners are eager to find a suitable cover for Bernd Leno before Cech leaves the club and have their eyes set on Emil Audero. Audero is currently plying his trade at Sampdoria on loan from Juventus. He joined Sampdoria on loan in the summer of 2018 and signed a deal till the rest of the season. Sampdoria also have the option to buy him after the end of his loan spell.

Emil Audero has been a regular at Sampdoria so far, making 8 clean sheets across all competitions. He has 7 clean sheets in the Serie A which is the second most number of clean sheets this season so far.

Audero has made only one appearance for Juventus since joining the senior team in 2016. With Wojciech Szczesny present, there is a good chance Audero will not make much appearances for Juve if he goes back to the club next summer. Besides, given his performances, Sampdoria will most likely sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.

Hence, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to sign him. The Gunners are currently keen on bringing in Denis Suarez during this month.
