Journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany claims that Arsenal is considering a summer transfer to sign Hugo Larsson, a star for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Currently sitting 12 points behind leaders Liverpool with nine games left, Mikel Arteta’s team is on track to finish as runners-up in the Premier League for the third consecutive year, so the Gunners are expected to be busy during the summer transfer window.
Midfield is expected to be an area that will be strengthened with the club expecting Martin Zubimendi to join the club in a £51m deal, but he isn’t the only target.
This season, Larsson has had a fantastic breakout campaign and has been compared to Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne in terms of his offensive flair. This summer, Frankfurt anticipates high demand for his services.
In an attempt to sign him, Man City has also entered the race and begun preliminary negotiations. The Bundesliga team is requesting at least £50 million in order to release their star midfield player. He has an agreement in Germany that expires in 2029.
Hugo Ekitike targeted by Arsenal as Isak alternative
The Gunners have been connected to a number of names, but the priority transfer target is a new striker. According to some reports, Alexander Isak of Newcastle is a top target, but Liverpool is the Swede’s favored next club. In the meantime, Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt is being considered by Arsenal as a possible substitute.
Liverpool also has to be more creative as a team. They require a player who can manage the game’s speed and create opportunities for his teammates. The 20-year-old might eventually develop a strong partnership with Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr, something Tottenham needs in the midfield.
Considering that the player is reputedly worth €60 million, it will be intriguing to see if any club will make the payment. He is undoubtedly a gifted athlete with a promising future, but at the highest level, he has not yet gained much experience. If the Germans are open to negotiating, it will be intriguing to see if the English clubs can sign him for a lower cost.
