Arsenal face big blow in their pursuit of Swedish striker

Newcastle have opened talks with the striker over a new deal.

Arsenal are keen to get the signature of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and they face a big blow in pursuit of the talented striker. The Gunners may miss out this deal.

Magpies are planning to offer a new contract for the Sweden international. They don’t want to lose this striker this summer. The 24-year-old has been impressive and he did very well under Eddie Howe.

Isak has scored 25 goals and registered two assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. He managed just one goal in the Champions League group stage and scored 21 goals for the club in the English top-flight.

The Swedish striker arrived at St James’ Park from Real Sociedad in the summer window of 2022. He has scored 35 goals and registered five assists in 67 appearances in all competitions.

Arsenal desperately need a striker for the next season and they considered Isak as the best option. According to Football Insider, the Magpies have opened talks with the striker over a new deal.

The report adds that the 24-year-old is set to be offered a contract which would make him one of the highest earners at Newcastle alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier.
