Karl Hein made only four outings in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy last season.

Arsenal’s backup goalkeeper Karl Hein may leave the club ahead of the new season. The Gunner coach Mikel Arteta has suggested that Estonia international could depart the Emirates during the summer transfer window.

As per a fresh update in June, Karl Hein had agreed to sign a new one-year contract having initially been free to depart on a free transfer. He has made just one senior appearance for the club.

The Estonia international would look to find a new challenge as he is not regular under Mikel Arteta. He made only four outings in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy last season.

Hein got his opportunity to impress in the pre-season friendly against Bournemouth because David Raya and Ramasdale were not available. He helped the Gunners to win through a penalty shootout.

As per the Evening Standard, Mikel Arteta said: “That’s a conversation that we are having at the moment. Obviously, David and Aaron are away at the moment and we’re really short in the position.

“We want to develop our players, especially a player like Karl with a big potential and a big future ahead of him. He needs to play games, so we’re going to explore that option as well.”
