Karl Hein, the goalkeeper for Arsenal, is close to joining Werder Bremen, according to another rumor from Kicker. The Bundesliga team from northern Germany was looking for a new number two keeper and was evaluating Hein and German veteran Alexander Schwolow as backups for new number one Mio Backhaus.
The German magazine claims that Per Mertesacker, the current director of Arsenal’s development system and a former Werder professional, played a key role in persuading Bremen to play the Estonian.
Hein will join Bremen this summer as just the third new player to arrive. After former No. 1 Michael Zetterer was forced to make an abrupt transition to Eintracht Frankfurt, the Hanseatic city-state club had to prioritize finding a new goalkeeper even though they sorely needed additional outfielders to bolster their Bundesliga roster ahead of the new season. The news about this specific German top-flight club’s outfield players only keeps getting worse.
Arsenal keeper Karl Hein set for Werder Bremen medical
Another left-back has departed Bremen. Bremen head coach Horst Steffen said that Belgian international Olivier Deman will be out for a while due to an ankle injury, only days after it was disclosed that Leeds loanee Maximilian Wöber was injured.
During Bremen’s first-round Pokal defeat to Arminia Bielefeld, Deman, who had a great training camp, took Wöber’s place due to injury. Steffen will be forced to use a non-natural fullback against Eintracht Frankfurt in this weekend’s first Bundesliga game.
Werder still hasn’t been able to sign Leeds’s desired right defender Isaac Schmidt, but German fullback Felix Agu can go to the left. Steffen spoke during a news conference on Thursday about the starting chances of two central defenders.
Steffen declared, “Karim Coulibaly [18] is definitely a candidate.” “But we also have Julián Malatini [24], who has Bundesliga experience and can be thrown into the fray.”
