As Al-Ittihad’s bid for the forward was turned down by Arsenal, Leandro Trossard has already given his explanation for staying with the team. On Monday morning, it was revealed that the Saudi Pro League’s biggest teams had made a £4.2 million loan bid to sign Trossard, with a £20 million purchase requirement. The north Londoners quickly told Al-Ittihad that the Belgian international is not for sale and rejected the bid.
As a crucial member of Arsenal’s Premier League championship push, Trossard’s departure would prevent the Gunners from acquiring a suitable successor. The offer follows reports that, despite being one of Mikel Arteta’s top players in 2024, Trossard has been disgruntled at not being able to secure a starting position on a long-term basis.
Arsenal issue hands-off warning after Al-Ittihad bid
According to Telegraph Sport, Al-Ittihad’s bid, which was reportedly an initial loan with a buyout option, was turned down by Arsenal, who saw Trossard as a crucial element of the team. Up to around £30 million is thought to have been the offer’s overall value.
In the January 2023 transfer window, Arsenal paid an initial £21 million to sign Trossard from Brighton, and he has since proven to be a valuable team member.
After Friday night’s Premier League window closed, an offer was made for Trossard. After bringing in Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea, the balance of Arsenal’s roster and acquisitions this summer have pleased the club’s management.
