The Anderlecht man is expected to be Mikel Arteta’s first signing of this summer.
Arsenal only have to come to an agreement with the Belgian outfit before they can announce the 21-year-old as their player. Overall, there is plenty of optimism surrounding the deal with Lokonga eager to come to the Emirates.
Lokonga is a rising young midfielder who plays in a number six role. He is an able dribbler, very intelligent with possession and has the ability to dictate a team’s attack. Along with that he possesses a terrific engine to cover ever blade of grass if required.
Arsenal’s opening bid of £13m was rejected by Anderlecht. They are hoping for a fee more in the region of £17m and The Gunners should not hesitate to match that. Arsenal also saw their initial approach for Brighton defender, Ben White get turned down.
All reports indicate that the club is heading towards a summer of heavy investment following two very poor seasons in the Premier League. Other than Lokonga, Arsenal are expected to make further additions in midfield with Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira – all ready to leave soon.
