Chelsea is still looking for a player who can contribute in a variety of offensive positions after failing to close a deal for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise. They have compiled a long list of potential targets. Chelsea has contacted Arsenal to find out how much a trade including Smith Rowe, who is at ease playing both wide and in midfield, would cost, but their inquiry was promptly rejected.
Sources have told 90min that Arsenal is not looking to transfer Smith Rowe right now, especially to a direct opponent like Chelsea. A few teams have expressed interest in the 23-year-old due to Smith Rowe’s limited playing time this season; he played three minutes at the conclusion of the Community Shield victory and has been an unused substitute in each of Arsenal’s three Premier League games.
Aston Villa and Newcastle United have gotten in touch about possible loan deals, but Arsenal is currently not interested in Smith Rowe leaving. Smith Rowe is reportedly open to the idea of leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer in quest of more first-team opportunities, despite Arsenal’s attitude.
Smith Rowe participated in Arsenal’s bid for the Premier League championship on the periphery after a groyne injury decimated the first half of the previous season. With only one appearance lasting longer than 20 minutes, he would finish the season with 12 league outings under his belt.
The rivalry for playing time in Smith Rowe’s places has only been more intense since Kai Havertz’s summer arrival, therefore the England Under-21 international hasn’t ruled out leaving for the summer to restart his career.
