The Arsenal hierarchy is reportedly not pleased with manager Unai Emery after the north London club endured a shock defeat at the hands of BATE Borisov in their last match in the Europa League round of 32 matchup. The Gunners were not able to come back into the match after Alexandre Lacazette was shown a red card in the later stages.
This has reportedly not gone down well with the club hierarchy, who were visibly disappointed with their team’s performance in the Europa League match. According to Football.London, managing director Vinai Venkatesham, head of football Raul Sanllehi and Huss Fahmy, all shook their heads in disappointment after the final whistle, which might indicate trouble for the Spanish manager.
However, Emery himself looked defiant of the fact that Arsenal can still go through to the next round. He said, “It’s the first match. We play the next match in London and I think it can be different. I trust in our players and in our stadium with our supporters. I trust in our work and preparations to make a different result.”
He added, “I knew before the match it would be two games. I respect them and watched matches they played. We worked to stop them but they scored one. In attacking moments we had more chances than them but the last action was not efficient. We did all to win. The next game we will continue our work today.”
