Arsenal are heavily pursuing Edmond Tapsoba this summer.
Reports suggest that The Gunners have already made enquiries to Bayer Leverkusen regarding the centre-back.
Tapsoba has emerged as one of the best defensive talents in the Bundesliga since his move from Portugal. The 22-year-old has plenty of suitors and could cost Arsenal around £50m. Now, that is a serious obstacle for the North London side to overcome.
It is clear that Mikel Arteta’s priorities in the next season will be to add more creativity. Majority of the club’s transfer chest could go towards landing a capable number ten or even a deep-lying playmaker.
Plus, Arsenal also have a plethora of defensive talents they have at their disposal. Even with David Luiz exiting from the club, Arteta has six centre-backs to pick from. Unless there is a clear plan to get rid of Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, William Saliba and Dinos Mavropanos, this transfer could be put off.
Tapsoba previously faced Arsenal in the Europa League while he was still playing for Vit. Guimarães. He made 39 appearances last term and knocked in two goals. Standing at 1.94 metres tall, he is a towering figure with plenty of athleticism and strength to show for. He could be the ideal man to replace the departing David Luiz at Arsenal.
