Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior faces an uncertain future as the transfer deadline approaches, with several clubs expressing strong interest in signing the 25-year-old Poland international.
Multiple Clubs Circle as Kiwior’s Arsenal Future Hangs in Balance
This comes after the Gunners already rejected one formal proposal for the player.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, manager Mikel Arteta prefers to keep Kiwior at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the player’s desire for consistent starting minutes, particularly crucial in a World Cup year, complicates the situation. The decision on Kiwior’s next move reportedly rests with the player himself.
Arsenal rebuffed an offer from an unnamed Portuguese club in July, signalling their initial stance.
Kiwior’s immediate importance to the squad has increased due to injuries sidelining fellow centre-backs Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes, making him a current first-choice option.
This reliance, however, appears temporary. Both Calafiori and Gabriel expect to return to full fitness within the next two weeks, potentially pushing Kiwior back down the pecking order once more.
This lack of guaranteed playing time beyond the immediate future represents a significant concern for the defender.
While reports linked Arsenal with Rennes’ Jeremy Jacquet as a potential replacement should Kiwior depart, that avenue seems closed.
Rennes have shown no willingness to sell Jacquet this summer, and the player recently signed a contract extension, likely delaying any move until at least 2026.
Consequently, Arsenal find themselves in a firm position. Arteta’s reluctance to lose Kiwior, combined with the absence of a readily available replacement, means the club will likely demand a substantial transfer fee if they are to sanction a sale this month.
As things stand, no suitor has yet matched Arsenal’s valuation, leaving Kiwior’s situation unresolved as the deadline looms.
Multiple clubs remain keen, but Arsenal hold the cards – for now.
