Le10Sport claims that the talks held between the club and player have been good.
Aubameyang’s deal is set to expire in June 2021 which poses a serious threat in terms of rivaling parties. Barcelona wanted to whisk the 30-year-old away this January but Arsenal managed to convince him into staying.
Of course, Mikel Arteta’s resurgent coaching tactics and the team’s overally improvement did play a part in the striker staying. He has since gone up to level Jamie Vardy in the Premier League scoring charts, putting in two against Everton last weekend.
Arsenal desperately want to tie him down to a longer deal. According to reports, Aubameyang is not opposed to the idea of staying but would like Champions League football from next season. As of now, that is an uncertainty. The Gunners are still 9th in the table and have to play out the knockout stages in the Europa League.
Mikel Arteta is optimistic about Arsenal’s chances of keeping the Gabon international. He is also hoping to finish in the top four this season with only a handful of games remaining to make a comeback.
