Arsenal are reportedly interested in RB Leipzig defender, Ibrahim Konate.
Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his defence even after adding Gabriel Magalhaes last summer.
David Luiz is half-way out of the club and Rob Holding is not meant to be a regular starter. Pablo Mari is more of a left-sided option, fighting for his spot with Gabriel. Konate could be more of a physical presence on the right side of the Arsenal defence.
Konate boasts of brilliant athleticism, strength and defensive intelligence. The only red flag are his run-ins with injury every now and then. Even this season, he has only made 15 appearances across all competitions, spending majority of the time on the sidelines.
Arsenal could use a figure like Konate in their backline but there are other areas which need immediate improvement. Starting with the midfield, the Gunners will need to add more creative strength. Arteta is already targeting creative talents like wingers and attacking-midfielders.
Both Arteta and Edu Gaspar are working hand-in-hand to clear out the squad of all the deadweight. With the £47m financial loss incurred this past year, it will also be tough to spend heavy on new signings.
