Konstantinos Mavropanos has apparently been agreed to by West Ham United and Stuttgart, with Arsenal maintaining a sell-on clause for the defender

West Ham United began to search elsewhere for defensive reinforcements after their attempt to sign Harry Maguire fell through. The player is eager to return to the Premier League, and earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano revealed that West Ham had approached Konstantinos Mavropanos.

ExWHUEmployee first reported the information on Tuesday night, confirming that West Ham was in negotiations with Stuttgart over the deal. Earlier in the summer, Bild indicated that a transfer for the former Arsenal center-back was extremely likely this window, although it might take some time to complete.

Although Wolves and Napoli had also been mentioned as potential destinations, the West Ham trade now appears to be nearing completion. The fact that the Hammers were prepared to pay £30 million for Harry Maguire shows that they have the resources and the motivation to find a defender.

Because Mavropanos’ Stuttgart contract contains a sell-on clause, Arsenal will receive a portion of the earnings from this transaction. Before he had joined Stuttgart officially, the center-back was rumoured to be on the move.

Last spring, there were rumours that he would make his loan permanent and then leave right away, but that didn’t happen. But you’d think the 25-year-old would feel the time is perfect to move on after another season of fighting relegation with Stuttgart. Stuttgart, which finished 16th in the Bundesliga regular season, was only able to prevent relegation with a victory over Hamburg in their relegation play-off.
