According to reports from Daily Mail, Arsenal are interested in signing Bayern Munich’s James Rodriguez on loan for the remainder of the season.

James Rodriguez is currently entering the final six months of his loan spell with Bayern Munich. He joined Bayern on loan from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017 due to lack of game time at Real.

The Colombian had a good first season, where he scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists in 23 Bundesliga appearances.

However, this season has been a little disappointing for James. He has made only 11 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and registering two assists. A knee injury has kept him on the sidelines for a month. However, James has recovered now.

Besides the injury, Bayern manager Niko Kovac’s playing style doesn’t bode well with James. Hence, he wants to leave Bayern Munich.

There have been reports linking James to a move to the Premier League. Arsenal have shown interest in the Colombian winger and initially wanted to sign him for £63 million. However, the Gunners now want to sign him on loan for the remainder of the season.

It seems that Arsenal may not be able to afford a permanent transfer for James. Earlier, there were reports that Arsenal would sell Mesut Ozil to have funds for new signings.

Arsenal will reportedly have to pay £3 million to sign the 2014 World Cup top scorer till the remainder of the season. Provided James moves to Arsenal, he will become the first Colombian footballer to play for Arsenal.
