Before the transfer window closes next week, Arsenal is one of the teams “leading the race” to recruit Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda at the Emirates Stadium
The adolescent sensation is wanted by the Gunners to join Mikel Arteta’s team at the eleventh hour. According to sources, Fresneda has accepted offers from both Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund for his services, with each side also agreeing on personal terms with the young player.
Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior were previously signed by the Gunners for Arteta’s team in January as the north London club looks to maintain their Premier League title challenge over the second half of the season.
According to Romano, the club will decide its next moves in the pursuit of Fresneda once Cedric Soares’ exit from the Emirates Stadium for Fulham is announced this month.
According to FBref, the teen sensation performs admirably compared to his positional peers, coming in at number two among full-backs in Europe’s top five leagues, the Champions League, and the Europa League for tackles (3.39) and number four for clearances per 90 minutes (3.16) over the past 365 days.
So, in addition to acquiring what appears to be a surefire star for the future, Arsenal would also acquire a player who could enter the lineup right away and fight current first-choice Ben White for a spot in Arteta’s regular starting XI.
