The Premier League season has started well for the Gunners, thanks in part to Mikel Arteta’s impressive defensive corps thus far. With the £42 million acquisition of Italian international Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal strengthened their defense during the summer and moved another star down on the hierarchy. One of the Italian teams allegedly looking to gain from Takehiro Tomiyasu’s circumstances at the club is Italian Milan.

The Japanese defender came to the Gunners from Bologna in 2021, but he has had injury problems all of his time at the Emirates. Despite being well-liked by supporters, he has never been a consistent fixture in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup. According to The Sun, the manager has acknowledged that he may lose him in January. Tomiyasu, who has not yet played this season due to a knee injury, is reportedly in the lead in the race to join Inter Milan.

Arsenal considers Tomiyasu sale

Upon signing a contract extension until 2026 in March, the Japan international joined them from Bologna in the summer of 2021. In the upcoming weeks, Tomiyasu, who has appeared in 83 games for Arsenal, will attempt to regain full health and resume play.

Kieran Tierney, a Scotland international, is also expected to be let go after an injury kept him from leaving in the summer, so he is not the only player who might quit the Emirates Stadium team in January. After an injury-plagued season with the Gunners, Timber offers the variety that Tomiyasu brings to the table, and the Netherlands international is demonstrating his fitness.
