Arsenal are reportedly eyeing RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, as Fabrizio Romano confirms via X that both the Gunners and Chelsea are “attentive to [his] situation” this summer—though no bids have been made yet.

The 22-year-old Dutch attacker has impressed in Germany, tallying 10 goals and seven assists across 25 Bundesliga appearances last season.

With Leipzig having missed out on European qualification, Simons who joined permanently in January from PSG is understood to be open to leaving.

His current contract runs until 2027, and Leipzig are expected to seek around €70 million with some reports suggesting €60–70 m is realistic.

For Arsenal, Simons ranks among the top three attacking options alongside Eberechi Eze and possibly Rodrygo—the latter still under consideration despite high wage demands.

While Eze reportedly has a pre-agreement on personal terms, it appears Arsenal will target either player or even both contingent on departures and spending flexibility.

Simons offers versatility: he can thrive as an attacking midfielder, wide winger, or second striker. His pedigree is notable La Masia, PSG, PSV, and now Leipzig and includes a 2022–23 Eredivisie Golden Boot and Champions League experience.

However, other suitors loom large. Chelsea are reportedly prepared to compete, and Bayern Munich have expressed interest as a secondary target.

Manchester United and Newcastle have also been linked though Simons is believed to prefer London and the Premier League.

Simons represents a high-upside option in Arsenal’s bid to refresh their attack and chart a long-term plan. But with heavy competition and steep fees, this one won’t be easy.

Still, if Arteta’s side can clear some space and seal a deal early it could mark the start of a smart, strategic summer coup.
