If you thought that James Maddison was the last youngster to break out of the Norwich City ranks, you should take a second look at Max Aarons.
Latest reports claim that Arsenal have joined Tottenham Hotspur and a number of Premier League clubs in the race to sign the right-back. Aarons has started the 2018/19 season in blistering form, hitting 3 goals and 3 assists in 21 appearances so far.
At only 18, he has not only managed to showcase his footballing talents but also his composure and maturity on the pitch. The defender has been priced at £15m by the Championship outfit, who themselves are second in the league behind Leeds United by just 3 points.
The Canaries were predicted to struggle this season with the loss of Maddison to Leicester but Daniel Farke has worked wonders to keep the team well within promotion hopes. Losing Aarons could prove to be damaging to their seasonal goals and Norwich have no losing the fullback in the middle of the campaign.
Any deal with interested parties this January will see Aarons get loaned back to Norwich at least for the remainder of the 2018/19 season. The teenager spent his earlier days with Luton Town and has been capped 4 times for the England U19 side.
With Stephan Lichsteiner’s deal set to end after this season and Hector Bellerin struggling to improve his defensive efforts, it would be wise for Unai Emery to look into reinforcements.
