The £26.5 million-plus French prospect Elye Wahi is being monitored by Arsenal

Wahi has had a standout season so far for Montpellier. The 20-year-old has scored 20 goals in 73 appearances since making his club debut in 2020, making him the second-youngest player in Ligue 1 to reach this milestone.

Kylian Mbappe now holds the record, but Wahi’s threat to the World Cup finalist at such a young age demonstrates the calibre of his ability.

Arsenal is now keeping an eye on Wahi, who is reportedly valued at about £26.5 million, according to Foot Mercato. Given that he has started every game for Montpellier this season but one, it seems sense that they don’t want to lose him in the middle of the season.

Wahi is a very valuable option for Arsenal because he can play in any position among the front three. In Gabriel Jesus’ absence, the 20-year-old might fill in and provide as competition in the broad regions.

A winter transfer, though, is probably not an option. First, Montpellier is not a team that regularly offloads players in the middle of a season. The abundance of skill the Premier League club already has in its assault is the second problem. The French youth international will eventually leave the Occitanie club, whether it’s to join Arsenal or another “big” team. A move in the winter would probably necessitate a large offer above and beyond his present estimated value of more than 30 M€.
