Arsenal are currently leading the chase for Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Bruno Fernandes along with rivals, Chelsea.
Manchester United were thought to be at the top of proceedings to sign the Portuguese international this summer but the Gunners have stepped up on their pursuit.
Unai Emery desperately needs to find a replacement for Aaron Ramsey and Fernandes could be the ideal fit into his system. The 24-year-old has been in remarkable form this season, scoring 28 goals and laying out 15 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
Fernandes also has 11 senior caps for the Portugal national side and was seen in action during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He is a versatile central midfielder who can play from both deep and attacking roles.
Sporting do have the bargaining rights since Fernandes’ release clause is reported to be worth around €100m. The Portuguese outfit might have to sell him for a much lower fee but cannot accept bids any lower than €35m.
With Arsenal’s rumoured transfer budget for the summer, the midfielder might just be far too expensive. Onefootball previously had noticed Gunners scouts being sent to watch Fernandes under the command of Sven Mislintat.
Now that the German talent hunter has left the North London outfit, it is unclear on how far Arsenal are willing to take negotiations for the 24-year-old.
