Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour makes a worrying prediction that playmaker Mesut Ozil could get manager Unai Emery sacked, just like Neymar did it for Paris Saint-Germain.
Emery took charge of the Gunners in the summer, after he left the Parisian club at the end of last season. The Spaniard’s time in France was constantly marred by issues regarding Neymar, where the Brazilian tried to overpower the impact of a manager in the team.
Ozil has struggled to get regular playing minutes after falling out with the gaffer, and the club’s highly-paid player has had to make do with time on the sidelines more often than not.
The German is one of the loved players at Arsenal and he has stated it several times that he is happy at the club.
And Parlour believes Emery, who struggled to deal with Neymar at PSG and eventually got the hook, may go through the same fate as a result of player-power if his issue with Ozil isn’t solved.
The Arsenal legend said: “It’s been a little bit like PSG under Neymar.
“Neymar ended up getting him the sack.
“He lost the dressing room and Neymar was pulling the strings there.
“Maybe it could be the same at Arsenal.”
Arsenal play BATE Borisov away in the first leg of the Europa League round-of-32 tie tomorrow night. Ozil is not in the squad for this game.
