Arsenal legend reveals who has been the best signing this summer

The Gunners have already completed five signings

Unai Emery was appinted as Arsenal’s new manager back in May after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years at the end of the season. He signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.

After mutually agreeing, he left Paris Saint-Germain after winning domestic treble with them. He has also won 3 Europa League with the Spanish side Sevilla before moving to Paris.

The Gunners finished sixth in the Premier League last season and will miss the Champions League last season. The Spaniard has been charged with the task of returning the club to the European elite while challenging for major honours.

It has been a busy transfer for the Premier League giants, as the new manager has brought in new five players, reinforcing the particular areas which needed strengthening to compete for major silverware next season.

Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient, Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund and Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

The 46 year old has almost finalized his midfield for the upcoming season. Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka have already signed new long term contract extensions and he has also urged the club to offer a contract extension to Aaron Ramsey.

But Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes that Unai Emery has been the best signing for the club this summer and has backed him for success.

He told Sky Sports as quoted by Goal : “The best signing for me is Unai Emery, the manager.

“Of course I believe in the players, and especially the new players.

“But for Emery it’s very important to start very well. He knows he’s at a big club, and has a lot of pressure, but I think he has a big character and spirit.

“He won in Spain. He won in France. He has a lot of experience and I hope for him and Arsenal that he is successful with the club.”
