As per reports, Arsenal will finalise a £25m deal for Merino’s transfer in the coming days.

As per reports, Arsenal are planning to make a new signing in the next 24 hours. They were in search for a new striker and it finally completed after a long run of talks. Arsenal has closed in on agreeing to a deal for Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

Gunners are expected to announce the third signing of the summer window in the next 24 hours. They recently signed David Raya on a permanent deal and later, picked Italy international Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

Merino was heavily linked with the club and he was dropped from Sociedad’s first game of the season against Vallecano in La Liga. It has created speculation about his potential transfer in north London.

During his pre-match press conference before the game, Imanol Alguacil confirmed that Merino was fit and available but mentioned that negotiations are going on regarding his transfer to Arsenal.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, discussions between the clubs have progressed well. The 28-year-old will soon join Arsenal this week. He said, “Get ready, guys, because these could be important hours. My feeling, talking to my sources, is that could be something like 24-48 hours, but we are really at the final metres, at the final details of the Mikel Merino deal.

“The here we go to Arsenal is really, really close. We can say almost there.

“They are working on the final steps and then Mikel Merino will be a new Arsenal player. As I told you, there is already an agreement on the final fee, they’re working, it’s already two-three weeks on the payment terms, the deal, structure, the add-ons. So, the details of the deal, but they’re getting closer on everything, even on the details.”

As per reports, Arsenal will finalise a £25m deal for Merino’s transfer in the coming days. He is working hard to maintain his fitness. He made 45 appearances for the La Liga giants last season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.
