Arsenal have devised a plan to only make loan signings this January like the year prior.
The Gunners were unable to make any permanent additions last January as well. Unai Emery ended up bringing in Denis Suarez from Barcelona who ended up being a flop.
Mikel Arteta faces the similar problem of a lack of funds. Arsenal have already splashed out nearly £150m in the summer transfer window and are reluctant to spend more midway through the campaign. The problem is they seriously need reinforcements to achieve their season objectives.
With two wins on the bounce, fans might be hopeful of retaining an Europa League spot this season along with winning some sort of silverware. Arteta will need some sort of relief by adding one or two quality players.
So far, Arsenal have been strongly linked with Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani. The former wants to leave Bayern in search of more playing time elsewhere and he could be ideal replacement for Calum Chambers.
With just Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as traditional strikers, Arsenal could make use of a backup like Cavani. However, the 32-year-old is leaving PSG to escape the bench role and he won’t be promised a better one at the Emirates.
