Arsenal have been linked with 1989 TSG Hoffenheim midfielder, Florian Grillitsch along with their arch-rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. The German news outlet, Bild speculates that a battle is set to ensue between the two Premier League sides for the 23-year-old’s signature.
Grillitsch is a defensive midfielder with 10 caps to his name for Austria. He has been impressing for the Bundesliga side in recent times and has registered a single goal in 18 appearances this term.
As per the Bild, Bohm said, “The fact that Flo is in the focus of top clubs with his strong performances, is no big secret. But he feels comfortable in Hoffenheim and still has goals with the TSG. Everything else will be seen.”
The Austrian’s contract with Hoffenheim is set to run till the summer of 2021. English fans took notice of Grillitsch when he starred for Julian Nagelsmann’s men against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League group stage matches.
With the January transfer window rolling up, it is not unlikely for title-contending sides such as Arsenal to look for quick reinforcements but adding another defensive midfielder to the lineup might not be the best move right now. Unai Emery still needs to add an outright winger along with paying attention to the weak centre-half positions.
Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have already turned out to be the Gunner’s star performers this season. It is unlikely Emery will add any more competition to the spot with players like Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny also in the squad.
