Albert Sambi Lokonga, the 25-year-old Belgian midfielder, has found a renewed sense of belonging at Sevilla FC.

Sevilla or Arsenal? Lokonga Drops Major Hint About His Future Plans

Since joining the Spanish club on a season-long loan from Arsenal in July 2024, Lokonga has expressed a strong desire to extend his stay beyond the current campaign.

Reflecting on his time at Sevilla, Lokonga shared, “I feel very good. I’m growing. I feel better with each game. After leaving Anderlecht, Sevilla is the club where I feel very, very good.”

He added, “I want to stay but it’s not just my decision. It’s early days and we’ll see each other at the end of the year.”

Lokonga’s journey has been one of perseverance and adaptation. After his move from Anderlecht to Arsenal in 2021, he faced challenges in securing a consistent spot in the Gunners’ lineup.

Loan spells at Crystal Palace and Luton Town provided valuable experience, but it is at Sevilla where he seems to have truly found his rhythm.

His performances in La Liga have not gone unnoticed. In November 2024, after a two-year absence, Lokonga earned a recall to the Belgian national team, underscoring his resurgence on the international stage.

The loan agreement between Arsenal and Sevilla includes an option for the Spanish club to make the move permanent for £10 million.

Additionally, Arsenal would retain a 25% sell-on clause, potentially benefiting from any future transfers involving Lokonga.

As the season progresses, both Lokonga and Sevilla will assess their futures.

For now, the midfielder’s focus remains on contributing to his team’s success and continuing his personal development in Spain.
