According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are challenging Tottenham in the race for Serhou Guirassy.
The forward plies his trade for relegated Ligue 1 side, Amiens with 9 goals to his name this season.
West Ham United and Bournemouth are also interested in him following very difficult Premier League seasons for both. Guirassy’s agent explained why his client is in high demand right now. He joined Amiens from FC Koln last season and has not exactly boasted of a prolific goalscoring record.
However, clubs across the world have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Even Premier League sides are scampering to find bargain deals like that for Guirassy who could be available for as low as £10 million this summer. He is versatile up front and brings a bit of dynamism and physicality to a team’s offence.
“A number of clubs in England and across Europe have shown an interest in Serhou after he performed so well for Amiens,” said mark McKay. “In the current climate due to the impact of the pandemic, clubs might not be able to pay huge transfer fees like they used to and in that respect Serhou could prove to be a bargain in this window.”
McKay added. “Serhou’s preference has always been to play in the English Premier League, but Amiens will evaluate all offers that come in for him and make a decision from there.”
Arsenal will definitely need to look for strikers if either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette leaves this summer. However, Guirassy is nowhere close to the level of quality that either of those two brings on the pitch.
