The 23-year-old midfielder has featured sporadically for the Red Devils ever since his senior debut against MK Dons in the 2014/15 season. He spent two seasons out on loan with Valencia and Granada and returned eventually to impress Jose Mourinho.
However, the Belgian who is of Brazilian origin and can represent both nations at international level has grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of the first team involvement. He previously declined a 3-year extension with the club and his current deal is due to end next July.
Pereira graduated from the United academy to establish himself as a versatile midfield presence. Blessed with quick feet and a decent turn of pace, the 23-year-old can certainly carve out a role for himself in the Arsenal squad once Aaron Ramsey leaves.
Unai Emery is looking for able replacements of the Welshman but so far has been unable to find any. Ramsey is already being wooed by Serie A giants, Juventus with Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain also looking on.
This means Emery will have to move fast on a deal for Pereira. Arsenal can approach the player for pre-contractual agreements now that the January transfer window is open. Manchester United does have the option of extending Pereira’s deal for one more year which could complicate matters of a transfer to the Emirates any time soon.
