The Telegraph understands that Unai Emery has officially held talks with the Dutch outfit for a potential transfer this very summer.
The Gunners are not just looking for a replacement for Aaron Ramsey but for wingers as well. Neres has attracted a lot of attention with his performances this season. He has slotted in 12 goals in 44 appearances while also setting up 15 assists.
The Brazilian earned his first call-up to the senior side in March and made his debut against the Czech Republic.
In the present market when players are moving for obscene fees, Neres could be a worthy investment for the future. He is quick, skilful and deft in playing within a three-man attacking lineup.
Arsenal cannot continue to compete against the top six Premier League sides without the help of quality additions. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi are not natural wingers with the pace to break open opposition defences.
However, Neres’ arrival could pose a serious threat towards Arsenal youngster, Reiss Nelson. The Englishman has been spending the season out on loan with Hoffenheim and has really impressed the Gunners academy coaches.
He has been touted to make a breakthrough into Emery’s first team next season but that would take a backseat if an expensive signing is made like Neres.
