Mikel Arteta wants to bring in a creative player this January and has set his sights on Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt.
The Atheltic earlier reported that Arsenal have sent out feelers to the BVB camp over Brandt.
Technical director, Edu has revealed his plans for the upcoming transfer window. He said, “It’s quite clear what we need. We need a player with creativity in the middle, we don’t have that in the squad right now.”
That is exactly the player profile Brandt fits into. He is young, technically gifted and a willing passer. He can play both centrally and out on the flanks. Unfortunately, due to Lucien Favre’s bias towards Gio Reyna has seen Brandt’s minutes robbed this year.
That has led to him to being moved out of his favoured position and a gradual decline in form. Dortmund plan on signing Marco Rose as their next manager who might have plans to reintroduce Brandt into the starting XI.
BVB signed Brandt for just £25 million two seasons back but could let him walk this January. Reports state that they won’t hold him back if a lucrative deal fell in their lap.
Arsenal are also considering alternatives like Emi Buendia and Houssem Auoar among others.
