Arsenal have made an offer of 22 million euros ( €22m) for Lille OSC’s Gabriel Magalhães.
The Ligue 1 side defender has been under Arteta’s radar for a while and his form was impressive before the coronavirus pandemic break and has picked up again.
Along with Arsenal, clubs like Everton and Arsenal and Serie A side Napoli have also shown interest in the 22-year old defender. Even Everton has submitted an offer for the centre-back, coming up to 5 offers in total for him.
An article in L’Equipe stated: “The arrival of the Nigerian international could precede that of Gabriel (22 years old). The LOSC left-handed defender has five offers, including Everton and Arsenal.
“That of Napoli would allow him to reconcile a sporting progression and to be associated with his friend of the Northern locker room. According to the current trend, Gabriel has two out of three chances to go the same way as his front-centre partner. The amount of the compensation varies between €22 million and with bonuses 25M€.”
Gabriel is rather happy with the interest and offers himself.
‘It is gratifying because there are a lot of teams talking about me,’ Gabriel had told L’Equipe earlier.
‘Gennaro Gattuso [Napoli’s manager] likes me a lot? I don’t know, we haven’t talked. ‘On the internet, on social networks, there are a lot of things coming out. I do not know what is true. I see every day, ‘Ah Gabriel goes there, then there’.
‘But in fact, we don’t know yet where I’m going to go. Wherever I go it will be to play, to be at the top, at the highest level.
‘And above all in a team that will allow me to go to the Selecao [Brazilian national team].’
