Arsenal may face a significant decision this summer: to fund the acquisition of a top-tier striker, the club could consider selling either Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli.

Trossard or Martinelli? Arsenal’s Big Call to Land a World-Class Striker

This potential move aims to address the team’s longstanding need for a prolific goal scorer, a void felt since the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners’ offensive challenges have been evident, with injuries to key players like Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz exacerbating the situation.

Despite efforts to strengthen the frontline during the January transfer window, including an unsuccessful bid for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, no new signings materialized.

This has intensified discussions within the club’s hierarchy about the necessity of bringing in a proven striker.

Leandro Trossard, who joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 for £20 million, has been a valuable asset. However, with his contract entering its final 18 months, the club might view his sale as a strategic move to generate funds.

Gabriel Martinelli, though a fan favorite, has faced an inconsistent and injury-plagued season. With two and a half years remaining on his contract, his departure could also be a consideration to facilitate the club’s transfer ambitions.

Both players have reportedly attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, presenting potential lucrative opportunities for Arsenal.

Manager Mikel Arteta has expressed the club’s intent to enhance the squad, emphasizing the importance of bringing in players who align with the team’s vision and financial parameters.

Arteta stated, “We had a clear intention… to explore the opportunities to improve our squad… we are very aware that we only want to bring certain kinds of players and we have to be very disciplined with that as well.”

In pursuit of a new striker, Arsenal has been linked with several names. While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is admired by Arteta, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is considered a more attainable target.

Additionally, the club is reportedly interested in bolstering the left wing, with Nico Williams emerging as a primary candidate.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s decisions regarding player sales and acquisitions will be pivotal in shaping the team’s competitiveness in the forthcoming season.
