Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is deserving of another contract extension, according to journalist Dean Jones
The £100,000 per week star has been one of Arsenal’s most improved players this season, and rumours claim he might be rewarded with a new contract.
Xhaka’s Arsenal career appeared to be ended as he was on the verge of joining Roma in the summer of 2021.
Finally, his attempt to join up with Jose Mourinho fell through, and he ended up extending his stay in north London by signing a new contract.
And Xhaka has continued to go from strength to strength since his second coming at the Emirates Stadium, with his form in 2022-2023 amongst the best in his Arsenal career.
As a result, Football Insider claims the Premier League leaders are planning on new talks when the midfielder, who’s in his seventh season following his £35m move in 2016, returns from the World Cup.
Xhaka’s current deal expires in the summer of 2024, although the Gunners do have an option to extend by a further year.
Jones not only expects Arsenal to activate his one-year option, but to keep him around beyond that year.
