Granit Xhaka, a midfielder for Arsenal, has been officially signed by Bayer Leverkusen to a five-year contract
In his seventh and final season at the Emirates Stadium, the midfielder had his greatest year at Arsenal during the 2022–23 season, leading the Gunners to a second-place finish. Leverkusen reportedly put together a package around €25 million to sign the 30-year-old this summer.
After making the switch, Xhaka told the club’s official website: “I know the league inside and out and I watched it when I was in London. The club Bayer 04 has a distinguished past and high goals.
“Mainly, I think it’s a club with a bright future. The management’s responses have been highly motivational. Everyone in our group is aspirational and driven to succeed, so I’m eagerly anticipating the coming years.
Simon Rolfes, the club’s managing director of sport, also voiced his happiness at the acquisition, saying, “In Granit, we have been able to bring in an absolute top player.”His prowess on the pitch is widely acknowledged. But more than anything, his exceptional mentality and demeanour make him one of the rare players who can lead a team with such authority.
The information is released as Arsenal’s world-record acquisition of Declan Rice nears completion. This summer, Arsenal and West Ham United reached an agreement for a transfer fee of £100 million plus £5 million in add-ons. The medical for the player is set to take place on Friday.
