Thomas Partey has issued an apology to the Arsenal fans after becoming the latest player to pick up a red card for the team.
Thomas Partey of Arsenal has had his fair share of misfortunes in recent weeks, with Ghana leaving AFCON at the group stage despite strong individual performances from the 28-year-old.
Partey appeared to have a chance to change things on Thursday, when he went straight from the airport to meet up with the players before of their semi-final against Liverpool.
Despite Arsenal behind, the midfielder onto the field as a substitution to rousing ovation, with the crowd clearly enamoured by his passion. But it didn’t last long.
Liverpool had increased their advantage in three minutes. Partey drew two yellow cards before the 90-minute mark, earning him a ban for Sunday’s game against Burnley.
Posting on his Instagram story, Partey took responsibility and insisted he’ll work to make things right.
“[I] am responsible for anything that happened and will take all the critiques,” Partey wrote. “I should be more intelligent not to get in a challenge already booked, but this is my personality, I like to fight for every ball.
“I love this club and I love my country even though things sometimes don’t happen how I wanted, I would continue to work harder and make things right.
“I will continue to give my all when [I] am on the field of play, because this is my life and this is what I chose to do.
Partey and Granit Xhaka (who is also serving a red-card suspension) are now both set to return to action after the winter break, when Arsenal travel away to Wolves on February 10th.
