Arsenal will struggle to offload Nicolas Pepe for a good fee as the Ivorian struggles with poor form
Pepe joined Arsenal from Lille in 2019 for a club record price as Unai Emery sought a new winger.
The Ivorian had been in great form at Lille in the previous season, and Arsenal hoped he would bring similar level of brilliance to the Emirates.
However, he has lied to mislead since arriving to the Emirates, and he is currently struggling to break into the team.
Mikel Arteta does not like him, and he did not impress when given the opportunity to play for the Gunners.
Arsenal will be eager to sell him, but former Aston Villa player Agbonlahor believes they will struggle to do so and that they may have to send him out on loan rather than permanently releasing him.
“The only choice for Arsenal is to let him go on loan,” he tells Football Insider. I don’t think any team would pay £30 million for Pepe.
Signing Pepe was one of the worst business errors Arsenal have made recently, and teh feeling around the player is that of the need to get rid of him as soon as possible.
The attacker has never been up to the club’s standards, and it does not appear like he will ever find the consistency he need to prosper at a large club.
