Arsenal added players to their roster during the summer transfer window, but they were unable to get a new striker to spearhead their assault. They have performed well so far this season because manager Mikel Arteta chose to have faith in his present offensive alternatives. Nevertheless, the team has continued to search for a new attacker, and they currently have a new player on their wish list who has been netting goals for fun this season.

Arsenal is keeping an eye on Aston Villa attacker Jhon Duran as a possible replacement for Sporting’s high-priced striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to Football Transfers. Gyokeres has long been linked to the Gunners, but they are unable to pursue the Sweden international because of his high asking price of €100 million.

Arsenal target Duran as January Gyokeres alternative

For a long time, the Gunners have prioritized Gyokeres; but Mikel Arteta’s team has been hesitant to move for the player, who has scored 14 goals in nine games for club and country this season, due to Sporting CP’s €100 million price tag. Duran is an additional option that Arsenal is considering because the Sweden international’s release clause is not in effect during the January transfer window.

Although Arteta seems to prefer Gyokeres, insiders close to the Emirates club have told FootballTransfers that other players feel Colombian international Duran is a better match for the Gunners’ style of play. Early in the season, the 20-year-old has flourished with Villa in a role that comes off the bench; this is probably the one he would first get at Arsenal. In just four games, he has five goals.
