The French international, whose current deal expires in 2027, has been a pivotal figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad since breaking into the first team, forming a formidable partnership with Gabriel Magalhães at the heart of Arsenal’s defense.

Talks between the club and Saliba’s representatives are ongoing, with both parties engaged in positive discussions.

Saliba himself expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating, “Yeah, hopefully — of course there is nothing now, but there is a good conversation with my agent and the club. Let’s see”.

The proposed deal would significantly increase his current £190,000-a-week wages, reflecting his status as one of the Premier League’s elite defenders.

Real Madrid are among the clubs monitoring Saliba’s situation, aiming to capitalize on any delay in negotiations.

However, Arsenal remain confident about retaining their star centre-back, especially after bolstering defensive depth with summer signings Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie.

Despite these additions, Saliba’s absence due to injury has previously exposed the team’s vulnerability, underscoring his irreplaceable role.

Under Arteta, Arsenal have transformed into one of England’s most defensively resilient sides, with Saliba’s composure, athleticism, and tactical intelligence key to this evolution.

Securing his long-term future would be a statement of intent as the Gunners pursue major trophies. The club is also keen to finalize a new contract for Bukayo Saka, further solidifying their core for the future.

As negotiations progress, Arsenal fans await what could be the club’s most crucial signing of the season.
