The player made his debut against Manchester City

Arsenal finished 6th in the Premier League last season, 37 points behind the champions Manchester City. As a result they will again miss the Champions League this season after missing last year as well.

Unai Emery was appointed as club’s new manager back in May after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years at the end of the season. He signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.

The Spaniard was given the charge with the task of returning the club to the European elite while challenging for other major honours. It has been a busy transfer for the Premier League giants, as the new boss has brought in new five players, reinforcing the particular areas which needed strengthening.

Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient, Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund and Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

Guendouzi joined the Gunners from Lorient for a reported fee of £7 million. He made his debut on Sunday against Manchester City and was one of the few players who impressed as Pep Guardiola’s side defeated them 2-0.

The !9 year old has revealed that he turned approaches from few clubs to join Arsenal and club’s former striker Jeremie Aliadiere convinced him to move to London.

“It’s true there were a lot of clubs interested in me — I had talks with some of the biggest clubs in Europe,” he said as quoted by Standard Sports. “But as soon as I heard from Arsenal, the decision was very simple and I’m very happy to be here.

“I did speak to Jeremie about Arsenal and he said it’s a place where I can progress and learn a great deal from the staff here. He always spoke very positively and that made me feel very confident in the choice that I’d made.

“It’s the club of my heart. There have been a lot of French players here and Thierry Henry is a symbol in France after his long career here. I used to watch Arsenal games with my father and it has a special place in my heart.”
