Arsenal don’t have any plans to leave the Premier League but want to be a part of any discussion regarding the European Super League.
Recent reports claimed big clubs around Europe are planning a separate league for them to sustain in this heavily competitive system. Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan are amongst the teams who initiated the idea of this new tournament.
These teams will be the founder member of the ‘European Super League” while a number of other teams are expected to participate as “invited guests”. The main reason for staging this tournament is to grab the larger chunk of the broadcast revenue to earn more profit for their respective clubs.
There is no confirmation when the tournament is taking place but the North London club are not ready to call it a quit. Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham said, “Arsenal aren’t or never have been interested in playing in any competition that weakens the Premier League,
“The Premier League is the world’s leading league in the leading sport, we don’t want to do anything to damage the Premier League.
“When people talk about the European Super League, that covers a really big spectrum. People jump to one end of the spectrum and think this is what we are talking about – but actually often it’s just a slight evolution from where we are today.
“I see these articles that Arsenal want to breakaway, we never want to do any of that. But we also have to recognise we have to be in these conversations or we wouldn’t be responsible.
“We have to be in the conversations, it doesn’t necessarily mean we support them.”
