With the deadline at the end of the month, Arsenal now has slightly more than two weeks to complete their business. Though the midfielder has not made any noise on his desire to leave Sociedad, Merino is reportedly interested on joining Arsenal before the transfer market closes. In contrast to the Spaniard, it appears that the Gunners are considering another midfield player.
Speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport, Adrien Rabiot’s mother and agent, Veronique, acknowledged that several clubs had contacted her about her son this summer. It is said that Arsenal was one of those clubs, as they look to add a new midfield player in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
“I am speaking with specific clubs; nobody else should represent me,” she declared.
Rabiot left Juventus last summer after his contract expired, making him a free agent at this time. Rabiot has reportedly been added to the Reds’ list of transfer targets, according to The Mirror. In related news, Arsenal and Genoa have reached an agreement for the defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy to be sold. The Evening Standard reports that the transaction will be valued at approximately £3.5 million.
According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Rabiot has been in talks with a number of elite English clubs, with the Premier League being his favourite destination. Among these clubs is Arsenal, and his agents are trying to seal a deal in the next few days.
